Surveying of the Pilu Palace in the Guanyin Temple
– Element of a Vast Program for the Protection of Chinese Architectural Heritage
Surveying and mapping project by a team of five members: MA Rui, HE Shiyu, AN Chengyu, JIANG Yuqi, HUANG Ziyu, directed by ZHANG Yu, in collaboration with Institute of Archaeology of Chengdu, Jul 2021. My role in the teamwork included coordination, surveying and mapping of certain structural and decorative parts of the Pilu Palace, which was built around 600 years ago.

The Pilu Palace was specially built for the worship of the Buddha Biluzana. It was constructed in the sixth year of the Tianshun era, during the reign of Emperor Yingzong of the Ming Dynasty (1462 AC). There are twelve murals on the two walls of the Pilu Palace, painted in the fourth year of the reign of Emperor Xianzong of the Ming Dynasty (1468 AC). These, along with the monument, are known as invaluable cultural and artistic treasures of China.
